Withdrawn research report
This page previously claimed to summarize a 5-year, 10,000-cycle backtest of the wheel strategy on SPY (2020–2025). The supporting dataset did not exist. The page was generated programmatically without an actual backtest run.
This entry has been retracted as part of the SEO + YMYL trust remediation (Phase 13). The URL is now noindex, follow and removed from the sitemap. The previous version remains in version control for transparency.
What we are doing instead
OptionIncomeTools is rebuilding the wheel-benchmark study from scratch with full transparency:
- A published JSON schema defining every observation field.
- An open data-collection endpoint (
/api/research/observation) where observations are recorded one cycle at a time, with downloadable CSV. - A live observation count visible on the study landing page.
- A required minimum of observations before any return claim is published.
- A full retraction record in the corrections log.
What you can do now
- Use the live screeners to find current setups (delayed market data, not historical results).
- Read the honest discussion of wheel returns, which explicitly does not claim specific historical performance.
- Review the methodology page to understand what we calculate (deterministic screen yield) vs what we do not yet have evidence for (realized returns over time).
